So much has happened to Team Fortress 2 since the spy vs. sniper update. The first 24 hours was the most confusing and exciting. A new weapon unlock system was implemented without warning from Valve which left a lot of people angry, confused or scrambling to figure it all out. Quite a lot of people really like the new update and weapon unlocking system. Others can’t stand not having control over how they gain their weapons in TF2.

Many people were anxiously anticipating the new TF2 update so they could get their sniper and spy unlockables and new weapons. This was the first time Valve had released 2 classes updates on the same day. But there would be more “firsts” for Valve when people realized achievement unlockables didn’t get them the new spy or sniper weapons and that instead, you would have to achieve these randomly by “finding” them in the game.

To find new weapons as well as rare headgear items, all you have to do is play the game. They are not looted when you get kills or achieved after a certain period of time. You don’t even have to be playing the class in question to get their items (ie. Medic can get a spy weapon).

These weapons now go into your inventory. When you open the loadout menu, you will see a small briefcase at the bottom. Clicking on this shows you all items in your inventory. The rumor is that in the future, players will be able to trade duplicate items with one another. So if you get an item you already have, you might want to hold onto it for the future.

All of these new changes were frustrating for many people. Some who never got their previous weapon unlocks were frustrated with the new random system for getting it. However, you can still previous class’ weapons through achievement milestones.

For those who want control over their weapon unlocks, you still have the chance to complete the previous class milestones to gain your weapons. The Medic, Pyro, Heavy and Scout can all still gain their weapons through completing the achievements up to the milestone markers.

While Sniper and Spy weapons are still achieved randomly through a system, you can still gain your old weapons through achievements. It is important, however, to keep in mind that Valve can always change their mind about this. They may remove achievement weapon unlocks from the previous 4 classes at some time in the future or they may decided to make achievements for something else.

For right now though, if you want a guaranteed way to get the previous four class weapon unlocks, achievement milestones will still help you do so.

If you don’t want to randomly gain your weapons or you want to get them now before Valve changes the system again you can do so very easily with our LiTi-4 Weapon Unlock Achievement Guide. http://www.liti4.com/tf2/tf2weaponunlockguide.php
